How To Do Up Your Kitchen, Without Forking Out Thousands!

Your kitchen is arguably the most used room in your house. Often known as the heart of the home, it is a space for making food and memories, family time, or just some time out. But with a new kitchen costing thousands of pounds, how can you do up your kitchen without spending a small fortune?

Small Changes for A Big Difference

Whether your kitchen is two, five, or twenty-five years old, there are still things you can do on a budget to update the look and feel of your room.

Upgrade Your Worktops And Cupboard Doors

If your budget is fairly flexible, for a quick but drastic change, why look into getting a new work top, and changing the cupboard doors of your kitchen? Your local hardware stores such as Wicks and B&Q have plenty of options for both, or for even more selection why not look online?

Do Up Your Kitchen

A Lick Of Paint

Arguably the cheapest any easiest way to do up any room, including your kitchen, is paint. Whether it’s the walls, or the kitchen cupboards you want to attack, this small but easy modification can work wonders with your room, changing the look in a matter of hours!

Fablon (& Glitter!)

A bit like marmite, fablon is a bit of a ‘love it or hate it’ material. If you are on any DIY groups on Facebook, most will argue that a bit of ‘fablon and glitter’ can fix anything. However, fablon can create a masterpiece with very little skill required. Essentially, it is sticky back plastic, that comes in a range of designs, from wood, to marble, to – well, pretty much anything! Again, use on your worktop of kitchen cupboards for a sparkly new image.

Find New Flooring

A new floor can make a huge difference to the look of your room, but can also cost thousands, depending on what you go for. However, delve a bit deeper into your options and you are sure to find an option to suit you! Sites such as UK Flooring Direct have a great range of affordable flooring options, or for a really cheap and cheerful change why not look at your local B&M store at their ranges of tiles, carpet and vinyl flooring?

Accessories

For the cherry on top, use your accessories wisely. Pick your colour, and run with it! All things like kettles and toasters come in a wide range of colours, to suit even the pickiest of people. Whether its black, white, grey, rose gold, or polka dot – look hard enough and you will find the colour, style and design you want. Finish off with some similar tea towels, cups or plant pots for the window sills, and you’re good to go!
