Mother’s Day For The Money Conscious

Mother’s Day is your chance to show your mum how amazing and appreciated she is. Your chance to make her feel that she is one of the most loved and important people in your world. Your chance to show her that you’re grateful for her constant support, patience and tolerance even when you haven’t remembered to ring for the last 4 weeks.

There are many ways you can do this; you can lavish her with diamonds, spa days, flowers and candles – she will love your kindness and generosity. However, for those of you who may be struggling to find the funds for a cheeky KFC, let alone such extravagant gifts, a bit of thought and generosity with your time will make up for your lack of funds. What mum wouldn’t love the chance to spend some quality time with their offspring on Mother’s day?

Spa Day At Home

Mums love an opportunity to unwind and be pampered. So what better way to let mum know you care, than to sit her down with a cuppa and packet of hobnobs and treat her to a manicure or pedicure – or both! Dig out your (or your partner’s) supply of moisturisers, files and nail varnishes and go to town. Light a candle, put on some soothing music (save the clubbing anthems for later) and let her unwind in your capable hands. You could include face and hair masks, a neck or head massage or even attempt a facial if you’re feeling brave.

Keep It Chill

At the end of the day, most mums would be happy with a chance to take some time out. An opportunity to curl up with a good book and not have to worry about walking the dog or doing the washing. So why not give her a chill out pass? Take a deep breath, get your Marigolds on and get to work. Tackle all those little jobs mums do every day which often go unnoticed. Take the pooch out (even if it’s raining!) and maybe even clean the loo. She’ll appreciate every small task you do and you’ll be in her good books for many weeks to come.

Food For Thought

Everybody loves a meal prepared by someone else, especially mums who cook every day. So don the apron (and the chef’s hat if you like!), get one of Jamie Oliver’s recipes up on your phone and let the magic happen. You could try to recreate one of her favourite meals. However, if that’s a little daunting, I’m sure any attempt at a nice home-cooked supper would go down a treat. If cooking is not your forte, perhaps pack up a homemade hamper and take your mum for a stroll to a local beauty spot (weather permitting). Don’t forget the chairs or rug and perhaps a bottle of bubbly to make it extra special.

Movie Magic

For your final Mother’s day flourish, a movie night would be the icing on the cake. Let her choose the film (even if it is a romantic chick flick), grab some of her favourite chocolates and her tipple of choice and settle in for the night. Try not to fall asleep after your exhausting day of housework and pampering; sit back, enjoy your time with your amazing mum and start thinking about how to top that for Father’s Day….!
