5 DIY Christmas Gifts: Christmas on a Budget

We are eating, sleeping and breathing all things Christmassy to ensure the Crimbo magic stays, without breaking the bank. We have come up with five great home-made Christmas gifts to give to family or friends, to really show you care! These are a little different from the norm, but gives you the chance to be in control of your budget; as well as showing just how much you care!

Christmas Hamper

Christmas hampers are great, but buying from shops and sites can be so expensive! What better way to show you care (and get the most for your money), than creating your own unique hamper! You can grab a wooden box for a few pounds online, and decorate it however you wish. Next, grab some tissue paper/ hay/ shredded paper/ newspaper, and scrunch up to create padding for your box. The rest is all you! Depending on who you are buying for, you can literally fill with anything! From biscuits and chutneys, to bath bombs and bed socks. Thoughtful, personalised Christmas gifts that are guaranteed to put smiles on everyone’s face!

Baked Goods

Are you a master baker, a cookie goddess or cake queen? Good, now get baking! Christmas cakes, chocolatey goodness and squidgy centred cookies will always go down a treat, and add that personal touch to your gift! Presentation can be as inventive as you want – from an old celebrations tub with a tinsel bow, to an artsy decorated tin. Made with love and care; just make sure there is plenty to go around!

Knitted Scarf

Have you been practising your knitting skills this year? If so, then put them to good use and get creative! Scarfs, gloves, socks, beanie hats; anything to keep your loved ones warm this winter. They will be received as great Christmas gifts; and knowing you’ve sat there and painstakingly made their snug new item… Well, who wouldn’t be impressed with that!

Photo Albums

I am a strong believer that Christmas is all about making memories; and what better way to remind ourselves of our favourite memories, than reminiscing over past ones? With so many unique ways to show off photos, there is a great range of pressie ideas. Photo baubles, photo mugs, photo cushions and rugs, photo t-shirts, socks and undies, photo books, calendars, electric photo frames, photo cakes, photo tiles… You get the picture (no pun intended!). Select some of your fav pics and get creative!

5 Favourite Things

Possibly one of my favourite gifts, this is perfect to show someone just how well you know them and how much they mean to you. Pick five of their favourite items, and pop together in a box or bag. This can be as budget friendly as you like, and you really get the chance to get creative. If you’re in need of ideas, why not go for fav chocolates, perfume/ aftershave, a nice piece of jewellery, a cheeky bottle of booze, and a candle?
