Get Your Game On – Gameshows That Won’t Kill You If You Fail!

Unless you’ve been living under a rock for the past few weeks (and let’s face it – nobody would blame you if you had!); you will have heard of Squid Game. For those of you who haven’t, Squid Game is essentially a TV series on Netflix, of the world’s worst gameshow.

Without giving away too many spoilers, the aim of the game is this: Win to live. If you lose, you die.

It doesn’t sound too appealing, lets be honest.

However, it did get me thinking. How many game shows are there across the world? How long have game shows even been a thing? For as long as I can remember, that’s for sure.

Many gameshows can come with life changing amounts of money, too. Think of ‘Who Wants to be a Millionaire?’, ‘The Cube’, ‘Deal or No Deal’, or ‘The Million Pound Drop’.

With each of these gameshows, you have the potential to walk away with a lifechanging sum of money… If you manage to get their top prize.

Then think of reality TV shows, such as ‘Britain’s Got Talent’, ‘The X Factor’, and ‘Love Island’. All of these have the potential to earn a sh*t tonne of money, if you win.

So with that in mind, how do you apply for some of these shows, and which ones are actually worth applying for?

How To Apply

Depending on the type of show, the best way to apply is to either go to their website (or TV channel website, if its on a certain channel). Chances are, at least one of these sites will tell you exactly how and when to apply. Failing that, reach out on the gameshow’s socials; if you are unable to apply that way, they will certainly be able to point you in the right direction.

Remember, depending on the type of show, some are known to reach out to you direct. For example, if you have a special skill, or are an exceptionally good (or bad!) singer, you may be contacted directly by a representative within the company. Let’s say Britain’s Got Talent in this case. Just be sure to verify the person you are talking to – you don’t want to fall foul to a scam, or worse.

Top Prize

Once you know what type of gameshow you are planning to apply for, it’s worth working out how much you could win. After all, as much as you may be applying for the free exposure, chances are if you’re reading this, the money will have at least a small part to play in it.

It’s also worth remembering, that even if you pick a show with a huge cash prize, you may not actually get picked to play the game! Your chances of getting picked to play vary from show to show. On games such as ‘Who Wants to be a Millionaire’, once you are chosen as a contestant on the show, you still have to win the ‘fastest finger first’ game, to even get the chance to actually play!

Once you have picked your favourite shows and worked out how much you could potentially win, get applying! Remember; you can apply for as many shows as you want. The best bit is it’s just a bit of fun, you have nothing to lose and everything to gain!
