Choose a Different Network for Sim Only Plans

Mobile phone contracts are an absolute nightmare to navigate. Since pretty much everyone has a phone, knowing which contract or network is best for you can be a minefield.

Do you stay with your current provider and hope they reward your loyalty with a better deal than you can find on the market?

Absolutely not.

Do you upgrade your phone and stick with a lengthy and expensive contract, even if it doesn’t need upgrading, just so you can have the newest phone on the market?

You can do.

But if your phone works and your happy to stick with it, why not look at getting a sim only plan?

Most companies offer a rolling monthly sim, which are almost guaranteed to be cheaper than what you’re paying now.

What do you need to look for?

Firstly, signal. If its not a network you’re familiar with, ask family, friends and neighbours if they are on the network, and what their signal is like. You want to check where you live, in town, work, and any other places you frequently visit.

Secondly, you need to check what they are actually offering.

Most companies will offer unlimited calls and texts as standard (although it is always worth double checking). But what data allowance are you getting? Work out roughly what you use. Most smartphones will have a settings tab that will show you what your usage is month to month, both on 4g (or whatever you get), and Wi-Fi.

Remember, you won’t need to get a plan with 100gb, if you use Wi-Fi almost everywhere you go. Equally, if you mainly use your mobile data, you’re going to want to make sure you get more than 4gb, as chances are it won’t be enough.

hat are your options?

As well as the better known networks (EE, o2, Vodafone, Three, Sky, BT, Tesco mobile), you could always check out these networks, to see if you can find yourself a better deal.
