Dressing Your Windows – Blinds & Curtains
I have learnt a lot since I brought my house, and how to make the most of it long term. I have learnt that there is an insurance for pretty much anything. I have also learnt that you usually own one side fence in your garden; you will never remember which one. But one of the strangest things I’ve learnt, just how expensive blinds and curtains are.
I didn’t think we had many windows in our home – 13, to be exact. But When we moved in, most of them had no blinds or curtains. As someone who likes their privacy, I set about buying custom fit blinds and curtains for the windows.
Wow, they are expensive!
I checked out the obvious places like Hillarys, Dunelm, Next. I checked out a few local blind shops, and the prices were hundreds of pounds.
This left me with a few options.
- Pay hundreds of pounds. Not something I was overly happy doing just for some blinds and curtains.
- Buy from places like Argos, Ikea, and the like, and cut down to size. Not a bad option, but your choice is limited and they may not look as good as custom fit.
- Find somewhere cheaper.

For their curtains you can choose your heading options, and for the blinds you can choose which side you want the control, so you have the utmost control on your items. You can even order over the phone if you have specific requirements, like I did. I wanted a curtain for my front door, which was 1 whole curtain rather than two separate curtains. They were more than happy to help.
