Restrictions Are Lifted: Sun Is Out, Fun Is In! Cheap Trips Out This Summer

The time has finally come – restrictions are lifted. ‘Freedom Day’ is here, and its time to party – carefully, of course!

With summer well and truly here, most of us would be planning, or even packing for our annual vacations. But with holidays in jeopardy, we have found some great low-key alternatives to keep ourselves busy.

Seaside

A day at the beach is always a fun day out, and can be as cheap and cheerful as you’d like. From building sandcastles, swimming in the sea, penny machines at the arcades, chips on the prom, or a cheeky ice cream – there is so much to do!

Funfairs, donkey rides, crabbing, or simply exploring the town you’re in – there is no end of things to do to keep you busy. Whether you choose to go local or national, why not go to a seaside town you’ve never been to, and spend the day supporting local businesses and having fun!

National Trust

With over 500 places under the care of the National Trust, there are plenty of places to go around the whole of the UK!

They offer great membership deals, from junior to family membership options, and great discount codes online to save you even more money, it’s a great time to sign up!

With restrictions currently lifted, many places now don’t require pre-booking (although it’s always worth double checking with your chosen destination before you set off). So, pack a picnic, grab the fam, and get ready for an enlightening day out!

Museums

Did you know, museums are not as boring as you may think! It doesn’t matter where you live, or what your interests are – I guarantee if you look hard enough, there will be a museum about it somewhere!

Whether your passionate about pencils, dog leads, or witchcraft and magic – there will be a museum to explain all about it!

Make a list of your hobbies, and any subjects or objects that peak our curiosity, and start planning your journey. Get your road trip music, pack some munchies, and learn all about something new!

Theatre Trips

With theatres starting back up at full capacity, it’s your time to get supportive with the arts! A great day or night out, you can make this trip as extravagant as you’d like. In fact – why not make a weekend of it? Stay in a new town, check out some local restaurants, do a bit of light shopping, or go for a walk.

If a weekend is too long, then a day trip could be much more manageable. Or if you have several shows you’d like to see, why not book your tickets for the evenings, and have it as a date night? It’s a great excuse to get out the house every few weeks.

Has someone had a birthday during lockdown, that you weren’t able to celebrate as you’d have liked? Find their favourite show (or take an educated guess if you’re not sure – there’s plenty to pick from!), and make them feel special.
