5 Great Benefits of Social Media – How to Make the Most Out of Facebook

Social Media can be a blessing, as well as a curse. It’s a great way to stay in touch with friends and loved ones, whether they live five minutes down the road, 5 hours, or even half way across the world.

It’s also a great place to make friends, find recipes, and watch cat videos. Or dog videos – they’re both equally as cute.

But the best thing about social media – specifically Facebook – is the features they have added, which can ultimately save you money, as well as headaches.

Marketplace

I have posted several times about the benefits of Facebook Marketplace – and here is why it is so great.

Marketplace has no fees, which can benefit you as both the buyer, and seller. It benefits you as the seller for obvious reasons – it doesn’t cost you anything to list your items. Unlike eBay or similar sites, who all want a fee or commission to sell your stuff, it wont cost a bean to list your stuff. In theory, it should mean as a buyer, you will pay less, as there are no additional fees for the seller. You can also haggle – which is always recommended!

Jobs

With most companies being on social media, and most people being on social media – it makes perfect sense to combine the two. You are no longer restricted to only applying for jobs somewhere you can commute. You can apply for a job anywhere in the world! With most jobs being listed on Facebook, it’s a great placed to start your search if you fancy a career change.

Property

This is great for rentals or owned properties. Of course, it is always advisable to get legal intervention, whether that be an estate agent, solicitor or the like – but it is always worth advertising searching for properties on here. Estate agent fees can cost a small fortune, and you could end up saving some serious cash if you can bypass them!

Dating

As someone who has never used a dating site, I will admit – I have no idea what they can offer. But again, with it being a free app – it’s always worth checking out – you never know who you could meet!

Groups

My favourite feature by far that Facebook has, is Facebook groups.  It really doesn’t matter what the subject is – I can guarantee you there will be a group for it. Own a Musk Turtle in the UK? There is a group for you. A cheese fan? Yup, there is a group for that too. Aspiring writer? Plenty of groups for you to join. Own a Beagle/ Cat/ Kangaroo/ cardigan knitted by your Nan when she was 26? More than likely groups for all of those too.

As a freelancer, this can be a great help when it comes to market research, or even finding clients. Check out your dream clients, join their groups, and make the most of finding all your new potential clients in one (virtual!) room!
