Saving Methods

4 Utterly Insane Gift-Wrapping Ideas to Make Someone Smile!

They say that happiness doesn’t result from what we get, but from what we give.

I am a firm believer in this.

Like an enthusiastic child at Christmas – I really do get excited when people open presents from me. Don’t get me wrong, I still love opening pressies too, but there is something in seeing the look on someone else’s face, when you have got them the perfect gift. Their smile can light up an entire room, if only for a moment.

Sometimes, the real gift is in the presentation.

I find there are two types of present openers – the calm and the crazy.

The calm, sensible present openers will always find a Sellotape line to open; they may even use a knife or scissors to keep it nice and neat. They seldom rip the wrapping paper, and are more than likely going to fold it once they’ve opened their gift, possibly muttering something like “I’ll keep that to reuse!”.

Then, you have the crazy.

The crazy usually have a cheeky glint in their eyes, the second their hands touch the paper. They go off like a wild feral animal, desperately trying to claw their way in.

The great thing about these wrapping methods is that it can turn both types into their polar opposite – and can make them laugh or get extremely frustrated!

Either way, it is definitely a gift to watch, and no matter the cost of the gift – is a cheap way to give the most memorable gift ever!

Cable Ties

This method works best on box shaped items, that are well insulated (for obvious reasons!). Simply wrap your item in wrapping paper, to cover the item itself, and then get covering with cable ties! Starting from less than £1 for 100, this can be a cheap and entertaining way to spend an afternoon. Weave your cable ties together for maximum impact, and close together to stop them being easily separated with a knife/ scissors.

Sellotape

Similar to above, this works best with box shaped items, mainly for unwrapping purposes. Wrap your present, buy a few rolls of Sellotape, and go to town with your taping skills! You can extend the unwrapping time by hiding all the scissors and knives if you’re feeling particularly cheeky.

Cement

This is not a method for the faint hearted – it definitely takes some planning and preparation. Do not use breakable gifts – clothing works best for this one. Make sure your gift is completely watertight – wrap in a few bags if unsure. Then in a box. Once done, buy some cement mix, and get smearing all over the box – you can use a towel or some sort of fabric to help it stick if you are struggling. Let it set, and voila! If you want to get really creative, get painting.

Box in Box

An oldie but classic. Works best with a smaller present. Find as many boxes as you can, varying in size from large to small. Put the gift into the smallest box. Wrap it up. Then put into the next biggest box. Wrap again. Do this until all boxes are used.
