Cheap and Cheerful Trips with Kids – Summer Holidays Specials!
Is it just me or are these summer holidays going on forever?! I’m not sure if it’s the weather – or lack of, or the fact that everyone seems to have had so much time off in the last year and a half!
Either way, time seems to have been warped, and we are now living in a slightly weird parallel universe. A universe where time and money don’t have the same power they did before all this mayhem started.
Even if we don’t take into consideration the amount of people who have lost loved ones, their jobs or their financial security, the summer holidays are a time for parents to haemorrhage money.
Whether you’re keeping young children entertained, or giving cash to your teens while they spend their days out with their friends, it’s true what they say – a penny saved is a penny earned!
With that in mind, here are a few places to take the kids, and save money at the same time!
LEGOLAND
With theme parks being back open, and LEGOLAND Windsor being one of the better-known ones, what better place is there to go. Especially when you find out… Kids go free!
Download your free voucher to get a child up to 15 years old in for free at LEGOLAND. Terms and conditions apply, so be sure to read them carefully.
Odeon/ MyVue Cinema
Odeon are currently offering special Kids Screenings, which offer ‘spellbinding fairy tales and animated films’. Their current offer is for grown ups to pay kids prices – keeping it a cheaper trip than normal for a family friendly day out.
MyVue offers ‘mini mornings’, giving adults and children tickets from £2.49 pp. Mini Mornings are run every Saturday and Sunday, as well as during school holidays. Again, terms and conditions apply, so check the fine print before you tell the kids about your plans.
Official London Theatre
Offering a Kids Week Deal (which ironically runs from 01/08/21 – 31/08/21), this usually offers kids free tickets. This year however, it is set up slightly differently. For every child and adult, they will each receive a half-price ticket. This still saves a tonne of money overall, as well as supporting the arts. Need I say it? Check the t&cs!
Brewers Fayre/ Hungry Horse
When eating breakfast at a Brewers Fayre, up to two children under 16 are eligible to eat free when accompanied by an adult, if one adult cooked breakfast is purchased.
Hungry Horse are offering a similar deal, where one child can eat brekkie for free when accompanied by an adult who has purchased a breakfast.
Sizzling Pubs/ Bella Italia £1
Although not quite free, the chain Sizzling Pubs are offering a kids meal for the grand total of £1, when purchased with an adults meal. This offer currently runs Monday – Friday, 3pm – 7 pm. This cannot be used in conjunction with any offer, so please check the terms and conditions… Yeah, we know you know.
Bella Italia is offering a similar deal, which runs Sundays to Fridays, but not Saturdays. This deal is time limited…. So check the t&cs!
