4 Ways to Ensure Quality Sleep for Maximum Productivity

A good night’s sleep is essential to long term productivity, but something that very few people prioritise.

Lack of sleep can cause all kinds of negative issues, including a low attention span, bad moods, unusually high or low appetites causing changes to your weight, loss of libido, more chance of diabetes and heart disease, and a lower immune system.

In order to be as proactive as you can be, here are 4 relatively cheap and easy ways to keep your bedroom antics in the best possible shape, to improve your chances of success!

Blackout Blinds

In order to get a peaceful night’s sleep, one of the first things you can do is make sure you are in complete darkness! No flashing lights from traffic, no streetlights, and turn off your TV if you have one in your room.

You can buy Blackout blinds or curtains from almost anywhere, or you can buy Blackout lining to adjust your existing curtains.

Ear Plugs

As well as ensuring your peaceful nights sleep with complete darkness, you may want to dull your other senses.

Ear plugs are a great way to keep the peace and quiet, allowing you to have a relaxing kip.

Choose from small, simple ear plugs to ear defenders to block out any disturbing noises, from road noise, to general household noises.

Duvet

Something many people don’t give q second thought to; are you using the right Duvet for you?!

Take note of what season you are currently in. Duvets come in togs; typically you want around a 4 tog for the summer, and around a 10+ tog for the winter.

You can also choose from feathered duvets, which are usually heavier – and are perfect if you’re a fan of the weighted blankets.

If you choose to go down the fibre route, you have plenty of options, including hypoallergenic – meaning if you suffer from dust allergies, or wake up with the sniffles often, this may be the best option for you to try.

Matters Topper / Pillows

Mattresses are generally supposed to be replaced every 8 – 10 years, but buying a new mattress can be extremely expensive.

A cheaper and extremely efficient alternative can be a mattress topper. Again, there are several options when it comes to mattresses toppers, from memory foam to fibre, firmness, thickness, and price.

Pillows should also be replaced every 1- 2 years, which many people do not do.

Again, there is a vast range of Pillows to pick from – meaning even the fussiest of sleepers can get a good night’s sleep, no matter how many pillows you usually have!

Fresh Air

One of the best and cheapest ways to get a decent night’s sleep is to have fresh air circulating round your room. It helps regulate the temperature, stops the room from getting stuffy, and also helps with dust – meaning you are less likely to wake up coughing or blocked up.
