5 Romantic Gestures – Showing You Care Without Spending A Fortune
It doesn’t matter how long you have been together with you significant other – it could be 5 days, 5 months 5 years; a romantic gesture will always go a long way.
It also doesn’t matter if you’re the guy or the girl – romance should go both ways! No matter your age, married or courting, everybody wants to feel wanted and appreciated.
Contrary to popular belief – as much as chucking money at the situation can sometimes help – most people are more interested in the effort behind it, rather than the cost of the romantic gesture. Getting creative doesn’t have to cost a fortune, and the memories you create are priceless!
Picnic Under the Stars
This is a great date no matter where you are on the dating scale. Wait until it gets dark, plan a picnic full of your SO’s food and drink, and grab a blanket, and any other weather appropriate clothing.
Find a remote spot/ somewhere that is special to you both, bring some form of light, and spend the evening talking, getting to know each other (again if needs be!).
Home Cooked Meal
Never underestimate the power of a home cooked meal. This will be all the more appreciated by the one who does the majority of the cooking – but again, a proper, cooked from scratch meal will always be a crowd pleaser.
Picking a meal that is adored by the other party, with some candles, music and the posh crockery (is that still a thing!?!) will make it all the more special, and show just how much you care by all the effort you have gone to. Add a quirky but personal centre piece to finish your masterpiece.
A Walk & Chips
More of a go getter? Maybe a romantic walk is more up your street. Pick somewhere – anywhere – that you know will make your SO smile. Whether it’s the high street, your local park, where they grew up, up in the mountains or on the beach.
Find a conveniently placed chip shop/ takeaway of your choice, so you can have hot food whilst you reminisce, and enjoy spending quality time together.
Drive & Drive Thru
Want to go further afield than your little legs can carry you both? A drive can be just as romantic. Every Christmas I go for a drive to find spectacular Christmas lights on all the houses. True, it normally takes all evening, and you can cover some miles – so if that’s your goal then make sure you have a full tank.
Make/ buy a hot drink each beforehand to take on the go, grab a few in car snacks and go see the sights, stopping half way at a drive thru to grab some food. It doesn’t have to cost much – but again, the effort of the overall evening will have them smiling all the way home.
Ladies (& Lads!) Who Lunch
If you’re feeling more of a day out, why not plan a day of their favourite activities? From swimming, to bowling, to shopping – or even all three if you’re feeling super energetic! Have a day creating memories, taking pictures, and grab some lunch whilst you’re out.
