Get Organised with Your Storage Space!

Whether you are going for a New Year New Me vibe, or choosing (like myself) to remain the perfectly delightful soul you’ve always been, small changes are always good. This week, mine has been to get creative with my space – or more specifically, creating storage space.

We’ve had a brief look at some Ikea hacks in the past – and although they are great at showing you the potential, they are by no means your only option. Check out our budget storage ideas below and see if any of them work for you – you’d be surprised just how easy they are to create from scratch!

Door Storage

One of the best hacks I have learnt by far is door storage. Specifically, kitchen cupboard, pantry, airing cupboard and even wardrobe doors. By attaching door racks or storage baskets to the doors, you can find space for all your items. There are varying styles, so you can hook over your door or permanently attach by drilling. Whether you create a space for all your jars and tins, hats and scarves, jewellery, wrapping paper or even saucepan lids; you’ll be surprised at the amount of space you can free up!

Under Stair Spaces

This one obviously depends on whether you have stairs. But for the purposes of this, lets assume you do. Under stairs storage is a great little space to get creative with, as there is so much you can do with it! Whether you decide to turn it into your own mini wine cellar, shoe storage, a reading nook or dog bedroom, its another typically unused space that you can really bring to life!

Ladder Shelving

Ladder storage is great for either small spaces, such as bedrooms, bathrooms and hallways, or also if you want to create a small display feature that can also be practical. Wooden ladder storage can also be practical, as well as looking good. Whether you use it to pop a lamp and some ornaments on, towels and loo roll, or store your beauty products on; you can create a practical yet elegant space for all your bits and bobs that don’t have a home.

Food Storage

Storage isn’t just for your stuff strewn around the house. You can also organise your fridge, freezer, and even your food cupboards! If you enjoy making food prep, or just like to see what you have to eat, then storage jars and tubs are most definitely the way forward. Whether you prefer clip lock tubs or glass jars, you will be able to find the perfect containers. Cereal, pasta, salad, nuts, meals – they can all be stored in jars and tubs. Storing them this way should give you more space overall. Most plastic tubs are now BPA free, and can be frozen, microwaved dishwasher safe.

Workshop Storage

Ideally suited to a shed, workshop or garage – if you have an outdoor space, you can create storage! Something as simple as floor to ceiling, to place all your bogof and bulk buys from the local supermarkets, especially tins and non-perishables. You could also create cube storage under your workbench. This can create space for you to stack your power tools and other bits that you don’t necessarily want indoors, but still want to keep organised and safe!
