We’re all going on a summer holiday… Or are we?!

Summer is here. The weather is good – mostly. The school holidays are nearly upon us. Right now, people are normally planning for their summer holiday, picking up sun cream, bikinis, and the last of the other essentials needed for the glorious escape.

But with Covid-19 ravenging the world right now, this is anything but normal.

With lockdown barely lifted, and threats of a second wave of Covid-19 in the UK, as well as other parts of the world – is it really going to be possible to have a holiday this summer?

Staycation

With BoJo promoting staycations as the way forward, we look at some possible summer holiday ideas for summer 2020 from July 4th.

Camping

With hotels still closed, and people wary of being too close to others, there is a solution: Camping. If you are happy to forgo everyday luxuries, such as ensuite bathrooms and air con, then camping could be the perfect solution. Your tent will not have been slept in by anyone else, and you can be as near or far from other people as you wish. Campsites are due to open on July 4th, or you could look into wild camping – with the necessary permissions, this could be one way to get away without having to compromise your health.

Seaside Resorts

For those who like the idea of staying in an actual building, and the chance to feel the sand beneath your feet, then seaside resorts are for you! Hotels, B&Bs, and holiday lets are due to reopen with new safety measures in place, including extra cleaning and hygiene regulations. With many seaside towns relying on tourists for their trade, what better way to support the UK getting back on its feet than to sample the delights of the seaside towns across the country!

North or South

Despite the UK being famous for its unpredictable weather, generally it is warmer down south than up north. So if you fancy a break without the heat, why not look into Scotland? Their lockdown rules are slightly different to England, so you would need to look into it to see where you can and can’t go, and when. But you could still bag yourself a nice summer break, without getting too hot under the collar!

Stay Home

Another option is the ultimate staycation; to stay put. You could either organise a number of day trips out, so you are kept busy during the day, and chill at home in the evening – or if you are lucky enough to have a nice garden, why not make your own resort? Set up the sunbeds, get out the paddling pool, convince hubby or the kids to bring you cocktails – and voila – your very own home from home holiday!
